If you were to ask me which of the different methods I prefer to use to generate attention, generate engagement and inbound traffic when you have an audience, I’d say Stories.
Many people don’t leverage this tool and it kills me. The truth is that relying on posts made in your feed isn’t enough! I personally don’t even look at the facebook feed, but you best be sure that I spend my days looking at other people’s stories.
Important things to keep in mind:
- You shouldn’t use the stories only when it comes to generating leads, you should use them to warm up your audience. Let them see your work ethic, your personality, your interests, anything that isn’t your business.
- You should spend more time focusing on building your audience before you try focusing on these conversion mechanisms. Without an audience, you won’t have much to convert.
What can you post in your stories:
- Client results, testimonials, etc
- Day to day, what you’re working on, your thoughts
- Launch Messages
- Lead magnets or content release
How do you get them to engage:
- Polls
- Q/A
Frequency:
Once you have an audience, I recommend that you post on your stories multiple times a day, as much as you can and you remain active at least 4 days a week.
Examples
Here's a few more types of Instagram or Facebook stories you can leverage to build your audience:
Insights
Expressing your thought processes and personal insights is an extremely powerful way to influence / solidify your brand message + altering your positioning in the market.
- Call out your industry and why what most people say is fundamentally floored
- Share your personal belief systems around biz / life / relationships
The goal here is to not only increase your positioning in the market by virtue of establishing yourself as an authority but also to get your audience to start seeing you as the best option.
Lifestyle
If it makes sense for your offer and niche:
- Share what you’re now able to do thanks to the transformation you’re selling
- Show what’s possible on the other side of taking the leap
- Use your lifestyle as a means of inspiring your audience to take action
- An increase in livelihood is always going to be a 3 / 4 / 5 benefit from the transformation
Personal Results
Show your audience that you practice what you preach. Not many people in this day and age practice what they preach which makes it difficult for them to sell because their audience oftentimes will be thinking ‘Well if this is so good… why aren’t you doing it yourself?’. Show your audience you are doing it yourself BECAUSE it’s so good (given this makes sense for your biz model).
Valuable Content
Educational content is the best way to position yourself as the number one authority in your respective vertical. Explain concepts, provide insights, give value to your audience.
This doesn’t need to be extremely well put together, just off-the-cuff style content on your stories is all you need to do. For example, I recently created a roadmap that details going from $0 => $40k/mo and I screenshotted it and put it up on my story. Super simple and basic but HIGHLY effective. More effective than you think.
Focus on breaking through your audience’s biggest issues. Great way to nurture your audience.
Action-Based Content
2-3 times / week create a piece of action-based content to either book in a call / DM you to explore the opportunity to become a client or customer / get access to a resource, training, etc.
Remember, always keep it outcome-focused and sell what it is that your audience truly wants. Make it seem as though what’s on the other side of them taking action will solve their most painful problems and it’s the thing they’ve wanted their entire life.
Anytime you make claims / ask someone to take action always flood your story with results right after.
Behind The Scenes
Provide a real-life insight to your audience in regards to what you work on, how your days are structured, what your current projects are, what your current goals are, what software you use, what systems you implement, etc.
Show anything and everything related to what turns your audience on.
