How to go from 0 to 5000K followers on Instagram

How to go from 0 to 5000 followers (30 day plan)

This one happen overnight, until it does.

Often this looks like a hockey stick curve.

Nothing for a long time then growth comes all at once and accelerates progressively.

Posting daily tells Instagram and your followers that you’re serious.

Days 1-7: Post Value 1-2x per day, Send 10 Niche DMs daily, Engage with 30 accounts daily

Days 8-14: Continue to post and Start your outreach to your lists (tip the value in their favor)

Days 14-21: Line up collabs, offer free help, insights, etc. and Continue to post

Days 22-28: Review metrics from first 3 weeks. Do more of what worked and ditch what didn’t. Continue to engage in the community. Continue to send DMs. Continue add value to others.

Day 29: Assess and optimize. Track all data in a spreadsheet and see what’s working.

Day 30+: Adjust and repeat for another 30 days.

How to stand out in a crowded market

Your content and approach has to be fresh, unique, and valuable.

There’s a lot of noise in the market, so a way to stand out, is to be consistent, unique, and a value add to someone’s day.

You can do this through 3 avenues: Content, Community, or Collaborating. or a combination of all 3.

Content: Your content has to be top notch. Your visuals need to be fresh and different than the cookie cutter stuff you see every day (no Hormozi style titles). You need a unique point of view that makes people go “I never thought of it that way” (Shout out my dude Sun Yi @sun.yi on IG) and presents ideas in new ways.

👎
Using ChatGPT to outsource your content is not going to get it done. It’s the same regurgitated content you see flooding social media already → That makes it extremely hard to stand out.

Infuse storytelling principles, experiences, anecdotes, analogies that make your content unique to you.

Also, your brand needs to stand out and be memorable. You can do this visually, with how you write, your captions, the way your videos look, etc. but keep it consistent and make sure its unique.

Community:

Engage and chop it up with people in your market daily. This is critical. Too many people treat social media as a one way street. They want the adoration on their own content, but won’t put in the work to go to someone else’s page and leave a comment or a like.

👍
Rule of Thumb: Aim for a 2:1 ratio for engagement. Meaning, for every hour you spend on creating and commenting on your content, spend 2 hours out in the market, commenting, engaging with other peoples content.

Collabs:

An often overlooked way of growth is getting other people to shout you out (for free) and you leverage their network to help you grow.

These can be indirect collabs (they shout you out in Stories, Broadcast Channels, etc) or direct collabs (you join forces on a Post or Live, etc)

Aim to do 1 direct collab and 10 indirect collabs per month.

The way to earn these is through providing immense value through your content and networking in the DMs.

The Law of Reciprocity → Look it up.

Starting from the bottom (Zero)

  1. Identify a hot market that aligns with my skills / passion
  2. Identify Ideal client
  3. Setup and Optimize Profile
  4. Curate exceptional niche content
  5. Build your 3 engagement lists
  6. Create and publish content daily
  7. Set aside 30 minutes per day to engage
  8. DM 10 new niche people daily who are a few steps ahead of you or on the same level
  9. Rinse and Repeat

Tracing Paper Technique

I hear it all the time.

“I don’t know where to start”

“I stink at design”

“I don’t know how to edit”

Just start.

We all started from 0 before.

Use the “Tracing Paper Technique” and Copy someone else, but don’t publish it.

Download their content and practice redesigning their carousels in Canva

Download their Reels and try to replicate it with your own video in CapCut

Copy their captions and see if you can write the way that they write.

This will allow you to study and practice what works and what doesn’t so when you’re ready to publish your own content, you can create a lot faster, more efficiently (and better) than before.
