In order to make any outreach campaign work, you need to be aware of the obstacles and limits of the platform that you’ll be running it on.
My goal with this introduction is to cover some of the most important things and most annoying things to keep in mind when launching/running a campaign on instagram.
Instagram is worth $102 Billion and It’s Great at Restricting accounts.
I want to start with this one since it’s the most important thing that you’ll need to overcome in order to have a successful campaign. Over the past 12 months, we’ve been using Instagram as an outreach channel and everything worked wonderfully up until a few months ago, Instagram released a new update that had ridiculous limits for newly created accounts.
We went from being able to do 60-80 DMs per to being forced to stay below 40 DMs per day and to having multiple accounts shutdown for multiple reasons.
The Solution:
- The best solution which can easily remove this problem is to use an account that has been in use for the past few years consistently (I.E: I can use my IG account and do 80 outreach a day with no restrictions)
- Prepare 4 Instagram accounts for your campaign, never less than 4 accounts. We normally have access to many instagram accounts that we bought in Bulk or If we don’t have any, we’ll simply give you a link for you to buy them.
- Start slow and stay between 15-20 DMs per account for the first 7 days of outreach, you can increase it by 25% every week!
Profile optimization
Your response rate will be highly dependent on how well your profile on instagram is optimized, the first thing that prospect will look at before they reply to your message is your profile.
If you want to have the best campaigns, make sure you add the following components:
- Semi-professional picture for your profile
- Leverage a headline that specifically calls out who you help & what you help them achieve
- Highlights with some testimonials, case studies, lifestyle stuff.
- In your feed you can do a few things: Share pictures of yourself, share a few pieces of content leveraging IGTV, if you’re creative and have the time, you can also make reels.

- Actively sharing stories on your account will help with warming up prospects.
Why Do I recommend Instagram as an outreach channel VS other channels
- Everybody is on Instagram, and they check it more frequently than another platform
- The prospecting and messaging process is probably one of the most efficient of all platforms
- It can easily be delegated
- I used to work for an ecommerce company and I noticed how all inquiries that were received from social media, were forwarded to the decision makers
- If you can find a few qualified prospects, Instagram will happily refer you to more prospects with similar attributes
- Not many competitions, everyone is fighting over Linkedin, Email or free facebook groups.
