6 Figures Identity & Decision Making:
In this content, I want to describe my evolution from making just under 2k per month with my business to scaling past 11k in monthly recurring revenue.
I want you to use this as a road map for you to become a 6 figures earner.
There will be 2 parts to this piece of content, Part 1, will be “Before becoming a six figures earner” and Part 2 will be about “ After becoming a six figures earner ”.
My goal with treating this as a story is for you to be able to relate to my evolution and have a clear path on how you can go through the same evolution.
PART 1: BEFORE BECOMING A SIX FIGURES EARNER:
Identity level: When starting out in this online service business, I had gone through enough courses to understand the importance of first becoming the person who deserves the success before achieving success, so even before making 11k per month in January, I had always focused on developing the character that deserved what I wanted out of life.
This is really important because if you don’t have a clear picture of the character that makes 10k+ per month and embody that character before you achieve the six figures earner mark, you’ll hardly ever make it.
Habit level: I knew all the habits that I needed to follow but a lot of the time, I couldn’t stick to them.
- Some of the habits I wanted to build were: Waking up before or at 7 am.
- Stop drinking alcohol
- Stop smoking weed
- Sleep at the same time every night
- Read a lot and go through many courses.
- Go through my vision board every day
- Taking action and doing outreach
I couldn’t stick to most of these except the habit of going through courses religiously and going through the content multiple times to make sure I understood concepts really well.
Decision-making process: Before getting to the six figures earner mark, I didn’t really focus on any 2nd order or 3rd order consequence of my decisions. I only made decisions that would impact the present.
Meaning, I’d make decisions that would only give me pleasure now, make my life easy now. I couldn’t extend my time horizon and make long-term decisions.
An example of a dumb decision process: Stay at my 9 to 5, set a goal to save money for 8-9 months, and get to hit 10k in savings before the end of the year, when I had the goal to scale my agency to the moon.
I preferred saving money in the bank than using it and incentivize people to grow my business.
It took me 8-9 months after buying my first agency course before quitting my job on June 26th, 2020.
Agency offer/niche clarity: I used to change my niche like every month, I somehow couldn’t stick to a niche as when it came to putting in the work, I always found excuses as to why the niche won’t work.
I used to sit down and google the market’s pain thinking that it would help me gain clarity and know-how to sell properly to the niche.
Even when I signed my first customer who was a business coach, I was still serving different markets, agency owners, local french clients, etc.
This was probably the reason why it took so long for me to achieve 5k in revenue or 10k in monthly revenue.
Client acquisition systems: I didn’t have any proven or predictable system in place and I wasn't disciplined enough/motivated enough to do outreach myself.
I would try to prospect and book appointments like twice a week, I was really inconsistent.
A few weeks after quitting my job, I ended up hiring a LinkedIn appointment setting agency using VAs, paid them $600 per month to take care of my outreach, and hoped for the best.
This decision was probably one of the best decisions that I could have made in that scenario as 4-5 weeks in, I was able to close my first customer. - for $4500
But this VA agency couldn’t get me to scale past 10k/month as I didn’t have the right offer for the right niche.
PART 2: BECOMING A SIX FIGURES EARNER:
Agency offer/niche clarity: I’ll start with this point because, to be honest in order to make money, a lot of it, it is important to sell something people want.
Deciding to serve agency owners and solving their appointment setting issue was the one decision that changed everything.
Committing to sticking to this niche, helped me scale to five figs in 60 days.
Every six figures earner knows how to give the market what it wants better than a five figs earner.
Every seven figures earners know how to give the market what it wants and have a good sales process,
Every eight figs earners know how to give the market what it wants at scale and have great operations,
Etc.
Identity level: After hitting my first 11k month, I immediately normalized hitting such a revenue every month and the month that followed, I hit 7k in the first week of the month.
Before getting to the five figures per month mark, I had spent months and maybe a year or so, writing down that I earned 10k/month from helping business owners scale their business, I probably wrote it down thousands of times.
If you do a thing that much, it’s hard for you not to achieve it since all your conscious & subconscious energy is repeatedly reminded of what you’re aiming for.
So my Identity was probably already the one of a six figs earner before I even started earning six figs.
If my identity wasn’t the one of a six figures earner, I probably would have never quit my job on June 26th, 2020.
Habit level:
After hitting 11k a month in January 2021, as I said, I hit 70% of that revenue in the first week of February 2021.
The only reason I was able to do it was because my habits were now incentivized to change.
The main habit that helped me a lot was that I started doing outreach every single day , engaging and getting attention in FB Groups, connecting with like 40-50 new prospects every single day.
This will probably be the only habit you need to focus on if you want to hit 10k-20k/month.
Decision-making process:
Past the five figs per month mark, I started thinking about the importance of building a good structure and good service delivery, instead of being focused on profitability.
I promoted one of the Specialists to become a team manager.
Short term consequence of this decision was less profit.
Long Term consequence: - less time managing small things that weren’t worth my time
- Less work so I could spend more time coming up with new & better solutions for customers.
- Could onboard more customers now
- Accounting was being done by her
- Employees were being trained and managed properly now.
This decision made me go from 5-10k to never ever go remaining at 20-28k in revenue per month.
Client acquisition systems:
Growing to six figs, helped me understand which platform was getting me the most amount of meetings, so I decided to double down on that platform which was FB and I ended up hiring a VA to manage my messages and to be consistently starting conversations every single day. As she couldn’t be as good as me, I started using video sales letters in order to productize my sales argument & our solutions. From January to May - we grew from 11k/month to 29k/month.
